1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, as a listener or an artist, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to Etokwa Music's handling of your data as described here. If you don't agree, please don't create an account.

2. Free Registration
Creating an account is free for both listeners and artists. No payment is required to sign up.

3. Artist Free Uploads & Artist Pro
Every artist gets 10 free song uploads, valid for 12 months from registration. Once you've used all 10 uploads, or once 12 months have passed (whichever happens first), you need an active Artist Pro subscription (UGX 15,000/year, or UGX 10,000/year for Founding Artists) to upload additional songs. Existing songs stay online and keep earning even if Artist Pro lapses.

4. Listener Premium
Listener Premium (UGX 5,000 / 30 days) unlocks ad-free listening, unlimited downloads where the artist allows them, background playback, and higher-quality audio. It renews only when you actively subscribe again; there is no auto-renewal without your action.

5. Donations
Listeners may donate any amount to an artist. Etokwa Music retains a 5% platform fee on donations, capped at UGX 10,000 regardless of the donation size. The artist receives the rest directly into their wallet.

6. Artist Wallet & Withdrawals
Donation and streaming earnings accumulate in your Artist Wallet. Withdrawals (minimum UGX 20,000) are reviewed and approved by an admin and paid out via MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, or bank transfer.

7. Streaming Revenue Share
Each month, net platform revenue (after operating costs) is split 60% to an artist revenue pool and 40% to Etokwa Music. To receive a share of the pool, an artist must have at least 2,000 valid streams and 10 published songs that month, must have purchased Artist Pro at least once, and must pass fraud detection. Artists who don't meet these conditions in a given month remain eligible for donations.

8. Valid Streams
A stream only counts toward payouts if it plays for at least 30 seconds from a logged-in account. Repeated, automated, or bot-driven plays are excluded.

9. Featured Promotions & Homepage Spotlight
Artists may pay (via Flutterwave) or redeem referral points to promote a Featured Song, become a Featured Artist, or secure a Homepage Spotlight for a limited period. These are promotional placements only and don't guarantee streams, followers, or earnings.

10. Referral Points
Artists earn referral points by inviting other artists who go on to upload 3+ songs or purchase Artist Pro. Points can only be redeemed against the fixed reward catalog (featured promotions, homepage spotlight, Artist Pro renewal, exclusive badge). Points cannot be converted to cash, cannot be bought, and cannot be transferred between artists. Referrals are only rewarded with points after passing a fraud check.

11. Founding Artist Program
The first 200 artists who verify their email and phone, complete their profile, and upload at least 3 original songs become Founding Artists, with a permanent badge and a discounted lifetime Artist Pro renewal price. The program closes permanently once 200 artists qualify.

12. Payments & Refunds
All paid transactions are processed through Flutterwave and verified server-side before anything is credited. Successful subscription, promotion, and donation payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or at Etokwa Music's discretion for a verified processing error.

13. Content Ownership
Artists retain full copyright of their music. By uploading, you grant Etokwa Music a non-exclusive licence to stream, display, and promote your content on the platform.

14. Prohibited Content & Conduct
You must not upload content that infringes third-party rights, contains hate speech, or violates Ugandan law, and must not attempt to manipulate streams, referrals, or fraud checks. Violations can result in suspension, forfeiture of pending earnings, and removal of associated content.

15. Privacy
We collect the account, payment, and usage information needed to run these services (including registration IP, used solely for referral fraud detection). We don't sell personal data to third parties.

16. Updates to These Terms
These terms may be updated as the platform evolves. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Significant changes will be communicated via the in-app notification system.
